This well-established manufacturer seeks an experienced Assistant Shift Manager
to join the manufacturing team. You will work closely with the Shift Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day operations on the shop floor, leading by example, operating machinery, supporting the team, and stepping up to oversee the full shift in the manager’s absence. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Shift Manager in supervising production activities to meet daily targets.
- Lead and coordinate a team of operators to ensure efficient, safe, and high- quality output.
- Monitor production schedules, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Quickly resolve operational issues to minimise downtime and maintain workflow.
- Uphold company policies, safety standards, and hygiene protocols.Deliver on Health & Safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement expectations.
- Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and performance feedback to team members.
- Maintain accurate shift reports and ensure smooth handovers between shifts.
- Liaise with Sales and Planning to ensure on-time, in-full delivery commitments.Conduct audits and ensure all documentation complies with BRC and internal standards.
- Manage material availability and ensure specifications are met within lead times.
- Foster clear communication across departments and with external stakeholders. About youProven experience in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally in a team leader or supervisory role.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide others.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to adapt under pressure.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations and quality standards.
- Competence in production systems and basic IT tools (e.g., MS Office, ERP systems
