Permanent Position, working Monday to Friday – rotating AM/PM double day shifts Salary: £32750 plus paid overtime and great employee benefits.
This client seeks an experienced Assistant Production Shift Manager to join a dynamic manufacturing team. In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with the Shift Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day operations on the shop floor. You’ll lead by example— operating machinery, supporting the team, and stepping up to oversee the full shift in the manager’s absence. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with
production floor experience who’s ready to take the next step into leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Shift Manager in supervising production activities to meet daily targets.
- Lead and coordinate a team of operators to ensure efficient, safe, and high- quality output.
- Monitor production schedules, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Quickly resolve operational issues to minimise downtime and maintain workflow.
- Uphold company policies, safety standards, and hygiene protocols.Deliver on Health & Safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement expectations.
- Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and performance feedback to team members.
- Maintain accurate shift reports and ensure smooth handovers between shifts.
- Liaise with Sales and Planning to ensure on-time, in-full delivery commitments.Conduct audits and ensure all documentation complies with BRC and internal standards.
- Manage material availability and ensure specifications are met within lead times.
- Foster clear communication across departments and with external stakeholders. About youProven experience in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally in a team leader or supervisory role.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide others.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to adapt under pressure.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations and quality standards.
- Competence in production systems and basic IT tools (e.g., MS Office, ERP systems).
